Mink Aleutian Disease Virus Antibody (ADV Ab) Test Kit now available for purchase

Jan 07, 2016

Ring Biotech is pleased to announce the availability of a new ADV rapid test kit. ADV is short aleutian disease virus, which is a very serious contagious disease in mink and ferret. The conventional method to detect ADV infection is based on CIE (Counterimmunoelectrophoresis), which is time-consuming and complicated to operate. New methodologies are required urgently to solve the problem.

Aleutian Disease (also ADV, for Aleutian Disease Virus) or Mink Plasmacytosis is caused by a highly contagious parvovirus (Carnivore amdoparvovirus 1) affecting mustelids, causing spontaneous abortion and death in minks and ferrets.

ADV is highly contagious. It is transferred through a ferret's bodily fluids, and it can lie dormant in dried urine or on an owner's clothes and shoes for up to two years. Known cases of ADV positive ferrets should not be taken to places where they may come in contact with other ferrets. They also should not be allowed to run on floors or other areas where uninfected ferrets or their owners may come in contact with residual traces of the virus from the infected animals.

Ring Biotech 's ADV Rapid Test kit detects ADV antibody in mink or ferret serum, which is rapid, accurate and cost-effective. Any farmers without special training can easily operate the tests. The result is also easy to watch by naked eyes. The total time is 10min. The test does NOT include any virus or virus liked materials, which will not create any biosafety problems and will NOT induce any potential infection to the cutsomers.

We have run serveral validated programs in local mink ranches, the result is comparable with CIE, yet more sensitive than it. The performance of the kit is also demontrated by comparing with ELISAs and similar products.
