Recent Update on Chloramphenicol Rapid Test Kit

Dec 30, 2013

Chloramphenicol has been zero-tolerance in food of animal origin for many years, due to this, the detection limit of this drug is relatively very strict. Official methodologies with LC/MS/MS will have a LOD of 0.05ug/kg or lower, while screening methods such as ELISA, rapid tests or others may have LODs of 0.1ug/kg or higher. In countries like Russia, Belarus or other CIS regions, the requirement for chloramphenicol in milk is more stricter, which is 0.1ug/L (ppb).

In the past few months, Ring Bioscience and NBGen scientists have been busy preparing and updating our  Chloramphenicol Rapid Test Kit to ensure the applicability in milk samples for customers from CIS regions. Now we are glad to announce that right before the New Year, this product is finalized and has been validated internally by our lab staff. The kit will work for LOD of 0.1ppb or others, which demonstrated good reproducibility and stability.   You may find the product information from this webpage. http://ringbio.com/product/detail/68/chloramphenicol-rapid-test-kit

Background:
Chloramphenicol is one of few antibiotics which may cause human fatalities at therapeutic dosage levels. These toxic complications obviously limit its use in human medicine to cases of grave disease where it has unquestionable advantages over other antibiotics. Typhoid fever and systemic salmonella infections are among the diseases for which it has been required. It can, however, cause a fatal aplastic anaemia.
